Artists Now offers a literacy-through-the-arts program for beginning readers and jazz for preteens through adults every spring. Artists Now makes these opportunities available to all interested children, regardless of their ability to pay, through scholarships and a sliding scale fee structure.
Jazz Improvisation
Jazz Improvisation classes for children and adult learners will begin this spring with New York City Jazz artist/teacher John Farnsworth. In Jazz, improvisation is practiced, and it is taught best by masters of the art.
Emerging Readers/Emerging Artists
Kindergartners and first graders become author-illustrators using storytelling, song, drawing, and
book arts. Children explore words and expand their ability to express ideas. Using various methods
to animate a story, the class reinforces reading skills like listening, comprehension, identification of
letters, and recall at a critical moment in the children’s reading development.
